2. Can I get Portuguese nationality myself without an agent?
Yes, it is possible to apply for Portuguese nationality without an agent. However, getting it done professionally will save you from all the hassle and save time. It will also prevent any rejection of applications that may happen due to mistakes in the documents or an improperly filled application.
3. Can I get a Portuguese passport if my parents were born in Goa but not me?
Yes, if your parent(s) or grandparent(s) were born in Goa before 19 December 1961, you are eligible to apply for a Portuguese Nationality.
4. How long does the process to make a Portuguese passport take?
According to the current time line, the duration for registering birth/marriage in Portugal ( Provided the application is correctly submitted ) are as follows:
- 1. Birth of a person born in Goa before 1961 - 3 years
- 2. Birth of the child of a Portuguese citizen - 14 month.
- 3. Birth of a minor child of a Portuguese citizen - 3 months.
- 4. Marriage registration - 3 months.
- 5. Birth through marriage to a Portuguese citizen - 29 months.
- Thus, depending on your case, the duration would vary.
5. How long does the process to get a Golden Visa take?
After the investment is made it takes about 3 months. This however depends on the time taken by SEF for approval. Call us to get a more precise timeline.
6. How long does the process take to get a D7 take?
It takes about 2 months (subject to change depending on your location) to get a Visa to Portugal and an additional 3 months to get the D7 Visa. This however depends on the time taken by SEF for approval. Call us to get a more precise timeline.
7. Do I need to get my documents translated in Portuguese?
Yes, your documents need to be submitted to the Conservatoria dos Registos Centrais, Portugal and hence, will need to be translated to Portuguese.
8. If I want to get a Portuguese passport, do I need to give up my Indian passport?
Yes, India does not allow dual nationality and hence once foreign nationality is acquired you have to surrender your Indian nationality and apply for an OCI card.
